Where do I find the serial number on a lightbar?

The serial number is located on a bar-coded sticker inside the lightbar on driver's side. The only exception is our Defender Lightbar. The Defender serial number is on the bottom of the frame on the outside of the lightbar on the driver’s side.
Back to FAQs

When buying a new lightbar, can I add options to "Standard Bars"?

Our "Standard Bars" are sold with only a limited number of changes/upgrades, as shown in the price guide. These include motor speed, lamp wattage, and lens or filter colors. If you require a "standard bar" with additional features not listed in the Options/Upgrades section of the Standard Bars, then you are required to "Build-Your-Own" lightbar (restrictions apply). Every option needs to be requested and each item is priced differently (i.e. flashers).

What is the difference between a 21TR & 21TR Plus?

The 21TR lightbar is the economical version of the two. Both use the same LED technology, Torus. The 21TR have pre-determined configurations and limited features. This is a good choice when low cost is the benefit of choice. The 21TR Plus provides the same look as the 21TR but with additional features, such as flashing Takedown & Alley lights, arrowstik, and software choices. The 21TR Plus has standard configurations to choose from, but it also offers a customizable solution for the customer wanting to "design their own" configuration.

How do I tell the difference between a Standard Speed (100FPM) and Fast Speed (200FPM) rotator?

Fast and Standard speed rotators are identical in appearance, therefore the only way to tell the difference is by the part number of the motor located on the motor housing:

  • T04943- Standard Speed
  • T04944- Fast Speed

What is the difference between an "intersection light" and a "pursuit light"?

They can also be operated with any traditional siren and controller system when used with the Code 3® Lightbar Control Module (included). Why are the LED-X and Optix LEDs described as having directional, wide, or hybrid optics?

A "directional" optic projects a LED beam signal over a minimum area of 20 degrees to the right and 20 degrees to the left on a horizontal plane and from 10 degrees up to 10 degrees down on a vertical plane.

A "wide" optic projects a signal in a defined horizontal arc substantially beyond 20 degrees to the right and 20 degrees to the left on a horizontal plane. The device must also project a beam signal over a minimum area of 5 degrees up to 5 degrees down in the vertical plane.

A ’hybrid’ optic combines the directional and wide optic. The LED signal incorporates some light in the ’directional’ spread and some in the ’wide’.

Testimonials

Tim Fry, Posted on Code 3, Inc. Facebook page:

"I just got off the phone with Code 3 in what was, hands down, the very best customer service experience I can remember. Lots of companies can make "public service equipment"; Code 3 makes satisfied customers. I install this equipment, I maintain this equipment, and I rely on this equipment while on-duty. There may be less expensive equipment, but there is no better value I have found."
